Nature, craftsmanship and conscious materiality
Set in the heart of Copenhagen, 1 Hotel Copenhagen reflects a design philosophy grounded in nature, craftsmanship and conscious materiality. As part of this highly considered hospitality scheme, Art Story was appointed to deliver a comprehensive art consultancy, including artist management, in-house design & manufacture.
Our approach centred on a craft-led narrative, celebrating the integrity of natural materials and the processes behind their making. Working with a palette of reclaimed, low-impact and responsibly sourced materials, we curated and developed a collection of artworks that emphasise texture, imperfection and authenticity. Each piece was conceived to feel intrinsically connected to its environment, drawing on Nordic craft traditions and a shared commitment to sustainability.
Collaborating closely with makers and artists, the scheme brings together tactile, material-driven works that quietly anchor the interiors, creating moments of calm and reflection throughout the guest journey. The result is a cohesive, environmentally conscious art programme that enhances the hotel’s ethos, reinforcing a sense of place through craft, longevity and considered design.
